I wrote a post a while ago where I said I was thinking about attending a rodeo event in Houston which has not worked out yet for various scheduling issues with friends. Fortunately I’m going to be going to Las Vegas in December of this year for a business conference – which I’m so excited about!! Anyways, it looks like there is going to be a ton of National Finals Rodeo events in Vegas during the time I’m going to be there. I think I am going to try and surprise my boyfriend by getting tickets for an event from nfr tickets.com. I’m pretty sure he is going to love going to this with me since he seemed pretty excited about potentially going to see a rodeo in Houston with a concert afterwards. I think we are going to be able to get really good seats too because the prices for the tickets seems really reasonable. I know my boyfriend will love being right up close to be able to see all of the action in the arena during the event. At least now I already know what part of his Christmas gift for this year is going to be – it’s so far away but I can’t wait to see his reaction when I tell him what we’re going to be doing.
I’m so excited that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! It’ll be the first one I get to spend with my boyfriend and since our first New Years Eve together was absolutely perfect I can’t wait to see how to rest of our first holidays together are going to go!
He’s been dropping hints all over the place about what his plans are for that day – including, hopefully, joking that we’ll be attending the Nascar race scheduled for the 14th. I think I’ve dropped a few pretty good hints of my own, I was checking out Movado Watches online and found this adorable green one that I really want! I keep leaving the browser open to that page so hopefully he’s taken the hint.
Besides the watch that I’ve been hinting at I’m sure he’ll be cooking dinner of some sort. I think I’m just going to let him go at it in the kitchen – he usually freaks me out by his unorthodox approach to cooking. Claiming that he hates following recipes / approved safety procedures, the unconventional way he comes up with dishes tends to worry me – but they always turn out amazing so I’ve learned to just let him do his thing, while I wait patiently in another room. I’m sure this Valentine’s day will be memorable no matter what.
While I’m just not starting to get my apartment / life back in order after Winter Break and the ski trip in West Virginia, everyone else is already working on planning for our Spring Breaks. Some of my friends are steadfastly trying to convince me to go on a cruise with them – I just don’t see myself doing well on a cruise so I think I’m going to suggest checking out Panama. I was considering Mexico while some other friends wanted to go to South America, Panama seems to be a great compromise since it’s right in the middle.
I’d really love to be there for Carnival. I can imagine that the Panama hotels would be more expensive then but I think it’d definitely be worth the experience. Evidently there’s a town about 130 miles from Panama City called Las Tablas; it’s supposed to be an absolutely amazing place to celebrate Carnival. Besides Carnival and the Panama Canal, it looks like there are a ton of interesting things to see and do in and around Panama City. Since I’m planning on going with a group of college students we’re definitely going to want to check out the nightlife in the city. Other than that I’m sure shopping, heading to the beach, and eating amazing food will probably take up most of our time. Can’t wait for Panama!
Do you ever get bored going to the same old sporting events or just out to see a movie? I certainly do so I’ve been trying to find some sort of unique form of entertainment to check out. I think going to a rodeo might be pretty exciting since I haven’t been since I was little. It looks like there is an awesome one in Houston – some of my sisters in my sorority are Animal and Poultry Science majors so hitting up a rodeo / livestock show would be right up their alley.
Not only is it the rodeo but also afterwards they have huge names in country and rock music lined up to perform in the center of the ring. For instance, this year it looks like Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Kenney Chesney and the Black Eyed Peas are performing in March alone. Just to see them would be worth going alone. It looks like they have really reasonable ticket prices for the shows – you can spend a lot to get right up front; otherwise ticket prices range from about $20 to $200 for the Alan Jackson show.
Anyways, it looks like a ton of fun – all the pictures on their website from previous years look awesome. I’m definitely going to be getting tickets to concerts at the Houston Rodeo for a fun night out with my friends.

Installing bathroom vanities and bathtubs is a good way of upgrading the houses that either do not have bathtubs or the tubs have gone bad. With a variety of bathtubs available it is not very difficult to find the right one. Acrylic bathtubs are getting acceptance as easy to install bathtubs over the heavier counterparts of cast designs and are especially safe to be installed in the children’s bathroom. Other types of bathtubs that can be used to upgrade a home are standard tubs, cast iron tubs, acrylic tubs and a whirlpool style tub. Home improvement by bathtub and vanity installation add a spark to the home and offer a relaxing and comfortable place to ease yourself after a hard day at work.

Beneath the coupled gold faints the painless catalog.
Being a college student, having reliable Internet service is VERY important. For an average semester at least half of my classes will require online submission of assignments – and they usually have very specific deadlines for those submissions. There really are plenty of places on campus and around the area to find Wi-Fi hotspots; however nothing can replace the convenience of having reliable Internet at your apartment.
Unfortunately Verizon isn’t really that reliable. I’ve lived in my apartment since 2007, since then I’ve probably had to call their customer service representatives between 5 to 10 times a year for various reasons. There was one point where I didn’t have service for approximately 2 months; luckily it was during the summer months so I didn’t necessarily need to have it. Even still, it was a huge inconvenience to be without service for that long.
My horror story of Verizon’s service occurred during the exam section of last semester. My Internet died as I was trying to finish a research paper for a compensation class that counted as my final exam. Suddenly I can no longer complete this paper in the comfort of my apartment using Internet that I’m paying for – instead I have to go sit in the crowded and noisy library to get my work done.
Because of the pain that Verizon is I’m really thinking about switching to satellite – specifically wildblue high speed internet. I know I usually write about green things on this blog – but I’m so over my service that I really think I’m going to try out a bluedish.
A few times a month the boyfriend will make an amazing fajita dinner – unfortunately he’s out of town so it was up to me tonight to try to copy his usual recipe…
Ingredients:
Bell Pepper
Onion
Chicken, Shrimp, and/or Scallops
Fajita Mix
Olive Oil
Water
Chop up and boil the peppers and onions until they are tender. While they are boiling add a few tablespoons of olive oil to a pan and cook whatever meat you’re working with until it’s done. Add the fajita mix and however much water it calls for and let simmer for a while. Stir in the soft peppers and onions and serve on tortillas with cheese and sour cream.

Just got back from an exhausting but ahhmazing trip to Snowshoe Mountain – an adorable little ski resort in West Virginia. Some of us spent a few days boarding it up on some great runs while others in our group took a more straightforward approach to getting down the mountain: falling. Either way, everyone seemed to have a blast and agreed we should attempt to have a reunion trip next year (since people are actually graduating in the spring!! Ahh!!)
I forgot to take a lot of pictures while we were dressed up but I did get a few of Alyson who had a ridiculously cute pair of green snowboard pants… and since she’s tiny it completely fits into the SGT theme. I think the ones she’s wearing are made by Burton but I found this adorable pair made by Volcom… love them!
We loved going to snowshoe for the trip – only problem was the fact that there is absolutely no service on the mountain unless you have at&t (surprise, i know). Luckily mom stocked up and gave me a gift of a ton of calling cards — i think she expects me to call India or something. So other than the annoyance of not having a cell phone, the trip went really great.
