My mother tends to go a little overboard when it comes to baking during the holiday seasons. I think its because we usually travel to see family during those times so since she’s not in charge of the main meal she tends to overcompensate a little. I think this year the grand total was: chocolate chip cookies, two kinds of fudge, gingersnap cookies, sugar cookies, pumpkin pie, and pecan pie. There went my diet…
Somehow I seem to have caught her baking bug; this year I decided to try my hand at making truffles with a chocolate ganache filling – which turned out really good if I can brag a little. I decided to start small with something that I couldn’t screw up too terribly much, or at least could hide smudges and mistakes easily since everything’s covered in chocolate.

Since they worked out pretty well I think I’m going to get a little bolder in my next attempt. I found these little truffles on a blog that were made for Saint Patrick’s Day. Don’t they look adorable?! Maybe I wont wait until March to try out these cute green bites.

The only time I ever drank ginger ale as a kid was after I had the flu and my parents wanted to help settle my stomach. Naturally I started to associate ginger ale with being sick – not something that would generally make me want to sip on it for a thirst quencher.
Recently I’ve gotten over my unreasonable distaste and started drinking Kroger brand diet ginger ale – it’s that college student budget showing itself. It’s an excellent mixer and wonderful for post drinking hangovers
but really I’m starting to actually like it in non alcohol situations as well!
Anyways, I recently had to do this project for a marketing class and fell in love with a new product that my group had to report on. You probably guessed, its green.. and cute.. and falls under the category of “thing.” Zevia is an all-natural diet soda – ginger ale flavored (also has 7 other flavors) – that’s sweetened with Stevia instead of aspartame, so it’s a lot healthier for you while it has zero calories. If you haven’t tried this yet you have got to find a store near you that carries it – they have this really helpful store locator on their website that tells you the closest place you can get it!
